Lifetime cancels ‘Army Wives’

Lifetime has canceled its long-running drama series “Army Wives.”

“There is no denying how special ‘Army Wives’ has been to both Lifetime and the television landscape,” Lifetime’s executive vice president and general manager, Rob Sharenow, said in a statement.

Bing: What happened to ‘Army Wives’ star Kim Delaney?

“By taking on a very relevant and timely issue, it has brilliantly captured the challenges our military families endure and the bravery they and their loved ones display while serving our country,” he continued.

After seven seasons, the cable network plans to end the series run with a two-hour retrospective special featuring cast members that will air early next year.

“It has been an honor to be the home of ‘Army Wives,’” Sharenow added. “We also want to thank ‘Army Wives’ passionate legion of fans and everyone involved with the series: ABC Studios, Mark Gordon and Jeff Melvoin, Tanya Biank, every single cast member, as well as the crew and community of Charleston, South Carolina. Without their dedication, effort and loyalty, ‘Army Wives’ seven wonderful seasons would not have been possible; and for that we are very grateful.”

“Army Wives” followed the struggles, dreams and friendships of a diverse group of women living with their spouses and families on an active Army post. It was created by Katherine Fugate and based on the Tanya Biank novel “Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives.” It was produced by ABC Studios. Mark Gordon and Jeff Melvoin served as executive producers.

The series’ ensemble cast has included Catherine Bell, Kim Delaney, Sally Pressman, Wendy Davis, Brigid Brannagh, Kelli Williams, Brian McNamara, Sterling K. Brown, Brooke Shields, Ashanti, Torrey DeVitto, Elle McLemore, Jesse McCartney, Terry Serpico, Drew Fuller, Alyssa Diaz, J.J. Soria, Joshua Henry and Burgess Jenkins.

The drama has received numerous honors, including two Gracie Awards from the Alliance for Women in Media, a Sentinel for Health Award from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism’s Norman Lear Center, as well as numerous nominations for an NAACP Image Award, NAMIC Award or Prism Award.

Once one of Lifetime’s most-watched original series, its Season 7 finale in June attracted 2.41 million total viewers.

Drew’s new film “Fatal Instinct”

Drew is appearing in a new film called “Fatal Instinct”. His character’s name is “Danny Gates” and he stars alongside Ivan Sergei, Masiela Lusha and Krista Allen. You can view the entire cast list on IMDb.

Here is a description of the film as well:

A police detective follows a trail of evidence that eventually seems to lead to his trusted partner’s ex-con brother who he helped put in prison years ago.

Congratulations on your new film Drew! We’re looking forward to seeing it.

Celebrating 10 years online!

Drew Fuller Fan.com has been online 10 years as of July 12th! I would like to thank all the fans for your continued support, especially my best friend Kim aka “PB” for always being there for me. We have made so many wonderful memories throughout the years. If I hadn’t created the site, we might have not ever met online. I would also like to thank Drew for inspiring me to create DFF.com in the first place. Thanks for reaching out to me on December 5, 2003 through your mom, whom I adore so much. I remember that day like it was just yesterday. Getting to know you and your amazing parents on a more personal level has meant so much to me. Several fans made a beautiful and personal DFF.com birthday video for me, which I love so much. Drew even participated, and I thought this would be the perfect time to share it with all of you. I can’t thank you enough for all your constant love and support. Here’s to many more years to come! XOXO – Kelly

Drew Fuller Fan.com Exclusive!

Kim and I were able to meet up with Drew last week (November 26th) in Los Angeles. We chatted for 2 hours about lots of things, including his career. We can officially say he is NOT returning to “Army Wives”. At the end of our time together, he followed us to our car and we were finally able to gave him the birthday project presents! He was super appreciative as always of all his fans and their support. He also mentioned he answered every single fan letter that came to him while shooting “Army Wives”. We will be getting a new fan mail address soon.

Before we left, Kim and I had a special present made just for him. We held onto it for over a year to give it to him. So what to get a guy that has everything? We had the pleasure of spending some time with Drew’s beautiful dog Tennessee while on location in Charleston in 2009. So an idea sprung and we commissioned a beautiful painting of Tennessee with lots of help from both Mama Fuller and a very talented local artist in Charleston named Missy. When Drew unwrapped his painting, he was stunned. We will NEVER forget the look, the smile that never left his face when he opened it. He made a point of telling us never to buy him another thing after this. It was very special to him and will have a special place on his wall.

We were also able to pose for a few pics and Drew decided to pose for a funny one of himself alone which you can see in the gallery. It was so great to meet up with Drew again. I can’t believe it had already been 2 years since we last saw him. We also enjoyed having lunch with Mama and Papa Fuller last week. Kim and I have met them so many times since 2009, we have actually lost count. We adore them just as much as their son, and they will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you for making our Thanksgiving holiday so memorable!

Please do not upload the photos elsewhere. You can link to the gallery instead. Thanks!
