Teaser: With the role of Chris in Charmed, Drew Fuller has finally succeeded in making a splash on the small screen. After a series that fell through, the actor was indeed ready to throw in the towel and thought he was going to go back to his career as a model. Meet with an actor who has been hot.
Q: Chris was your first real major part, right? A: Yes, I had a part in the pilot of a series, three years ago, but that was a no go. Then, I was the star of a series on the martial arts, entitled "Black Sash", but it was canceled at the end of seven episodes. Thus, being signed to Charmed for one complete year was a true miracle to me, because, at the time, I was really desperate. I believed that I would never manage to get a good role in a viable series, and I was about to give up my career as an actor.
Q: Was Chris supposed to appear in all the episodes of the season when you were committed? A: No, at first I signed to act in the last two episodes of season 5. They had let me know that I could return in two episodes the next year, but that was all. Then, when the producers saw that the public loved my character and that I got along well with the other actors on the set, they asked me to sign for one complete season. I was in heaven!
Q: Precisely, what is your relationship with the actresses of Charmed? A: I learned so much about the trade of an actor while working with Alyssa. She has been an actress for a long time; she is very sure of herself and is very comfortable in her skin. Also, when one acts face to face with her, she is able to offer you a different performance for each take. She is not afraid to let go in a scene and she is very impressive. As for Rose, she is the one of the most intelligent people whom I have ever met. She always has a book in her hand, and since she has lived in various countries throughout the world, she knows more things than the majority of people. As for Holly, she is adorable. She is fantastic because she is the kind of person whom you can go to see when you have a problem and someone who will listen to you.
Q: What was the thing you found most difficult in interpreting Chris? To learn how to orb! It is not something that one learns in acting classes! [ laughter ] But that also was one of the pleasant things about being on the set of Charmed; the interesting aspects of the series that involved acting with demons, special effects and horrible make-up.
Q: Do you believe in magic? A: I do not know I necessarily believe in what they call "magic," but I believe deeply that there are mystical forces around us. I think that certain people are endowed with a sixth sense and have access to this supernatural world. My great-grandmother was to have a kidney removed when a woman stopped her in the street. She put her hand on her belly and said to her: "You should not be operated on, because that will pose problems for you. My great-grandmother was disturbed such that she preferred not to have the operation, and a little later her doctor told her that he had made an error and that he learned the kidney which he had planned to remove was not sick; it was the other one that had to be removed. Without this woman, my great-grandmother would be dead today.
Q: Do you have a girlfriend? A: Yes, but I dont want to talk about her. I make a point of preserving my private life.
Q: You were a model before you became an actor and you had did two publicities with Britney Spears. How did that happen? A: Apparently, they showed videos of my work as a model to Britney, who was to choose a partner for her publicity. And she chose me, which is very flattering. But I never had the occasion to talk with her. She is charming, but she is constantly surrounded by an entourage of around fifty people, which makes any conversation impossible, because its very intimidating. |
