"Army Wives" Star Drew Fuller: Full of Surprises and (Just Like Trevor) Crazy In Love

Actor Drew Fuller plays Private First Class Trevor LeBlanc on the hit show "Army Wives" (Sundays, 10 pm et/pt), a young solider who adopted his new wife's children and introduced them to an Army life. myLifetime.com "Army Wives" blogger Caitlin asked this up-and-coming actor the questions you wanna know, and learned some surprising answers - including how he unexpectedly fell head over heels in love.

What is something we'd be surprised to learn about you?

All I do is have fun. When I'm not working, it's about making people laugh. I love making jokes about things. Even when someone's mad at me, I'll deflect anger with humor. My days are filled with laughter. If I'm not laughing, I'm not happy.

This season of "Army Wives" looks like you're going to be spending quite a bit of time deployed and off post, so where exactly are you shooting these scenes that take place in the Middle East?

In the front of our soundstage is Baghdad, South Carolina. John Kretschmer, the production designer, is such a genius. He looked at a lot of photos, and what people don't really realize is how urban Iraq really is. They created this little tent world, Camp Mercy, in front of our soundstages, and it looks so authentic, I can't even begin to tell you. It looks like it's from the movie "Black Hawk Down."

I did some Googling, and realized you've been in quite a few music videos.

I think I've only been in three! Or four! OK. Let's go through 'em. The first one was "The Calling," which turned out to be number one on "TRL," and that happened to be a good move because that many people saw [my] face. And I don't think at that point I had booked an acting job yet. And then, it was Jennifer Love Hewitt, "Barenaked." And that was a favor to a friend. One of her best friends was styling the shoot, and she was like, "Drew, you gotta come down and meet Love, she's so amazing." So, I go down there. I meet her ,and we end up hanging out and talking and laughing all day long. And she's like, "Will you just be in it? Just a little ... anything?" She asked me and she was so sweet, so I said yes. And on the spot that day, I did the job. I worked for about 20 minutes and I was done!

The next one was the Lindsay Lohan video. I had tested to play opposite her in a movie and I didn't get it, but two weeks later, I was asked to be in her music video as her main guy.

The last one was the Ringside video with Balthazar Getty, who is half the genius mind of Ringside. Joaquin Phoenix was directing the music video. So, being directed by an Oscar-nominated Golden Globe winner, and it's me and Casey Affleck and Christian Slater. There were so many positives to doing it and it was so much fun. Each one had a very specific purpose. I wasn't doing it just to do them.

What did you do during hiatus?

Right after we wrapped the first season, I went off to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to go shoot an ABC Family movie called "Circuit," which actually premiered the same night "Army Wives" did. I was there for about six weeks, and after that, I wanted to take a little time off and then come back here, but the writers' strike happened, and then I had a boatload of time off. I was born and raised in L.A. and I hadn't been there in forever and I kinda took full advantage of it.

Well, what happened was, at first I'm having a blast, going to the beach, riding motorcycles, going to museums - just doing everything I can to live my days and have fun, but I felt like I was lacking some purpose. I had so much time on my hands, and nothing was happening with the acting thing because the strike was going on, and I wasn't really sweating it because I knew I was coming back to the show. So, I got back into [acting] class just to kinda keep that muscle in shape. As much as I dislike class, I think it's really good to always keep your instrument in tune, so to speak.

Did you do anything special?

The majority of my time I started getting really involved with charities, one of them being The Art of Elysium, which deals with actors and musicians, writers, painters and poets that go into these children's hospitals and help heal through their craft, through their given art. One person might have a screening of a movie and have a Q&A afterwards with these kids. So, I got heavily involved with that and also another charity which is feeding of the homeless, and I would do that three or four times a week, every morning. It's a beautiful thing to be a part of.

You know, it's interesting... The strike affected so many people's jobs, but I think everything happens for a reason, and it was because of that strike that I met and fell in love with my soul mate at one of the charities. I had been single for the past five years! The strike ended up opening up my eyes to a lot of things and really got me involved with giving back and it introduced me to the girl I believe was put on this earth for me. We were instant best friends and just attracted, and complete each other in such deep ways. And not just physical, but everything. It's emotional, it's spiritual ... everything about it. My life has changed so much in the past year. I can't even fathom how it's gonna be next year.

If you were going to play any other character on "Army Wives", who would it be and why?

I would probably play Chase Moran, Jeremy Davidson's character. I think that he has...

...Excessive facial hair?

Yes. I love that. He doesn't have to shave as often, gets to keep his hair a little bit longer. I like the fact that he's Delta. It's the most elite, top secret organization within the Army.

I just love that he gets these cryptic pages and leaves like a ninja.

Exactly! I love that! I think that would be so much fun to explore and do. I don't think I could do it any better than Jeremy. Such an awesome actor. I'd play him.
